Wipe down the mesh with a damp cloth or pet-safe disinfectant for routine cleaning, or hose it off outside for a deeper clean

The hydrophobic mesh won't absorb water, so it air-dries completely in minutes when left in direct sunlight

Let the cot dry fully before your dog uses it again to prevent any slipping

Wipe the anodized aluminum frame occasionally to remove dust and outdoor debris

Check the mesh tension every few weeks and tighten the frame connections if it starts to sag

For outdoor use, bring it under cover during heavy storms to maximize the frame and mesh lifespan

Inspect the corner fittings and screws periodically to ensure everything stays secure

Avoid placing it on sharp or abrasive surfaces that could snag or wear the mesh over time

Cooler, deeper sleep

Easier breathing

"My 11-year-old Lab stopped pacing at 3am within a week."

Bear had been waking up four or five times a night, moving between the tile, the rug, and our bed. We bought him a $200 orthopedic cooling bed last summer and he wouldn't touch it. The cot was different. He laid down on it the first night and stayed there until morning. We didn't realize how exhausted both of us were until we both finally slept.

"His resting panting stopped within 4 days."

As a brachycephalic breed Bruno has always struggled with breathing in the heat. The vet warned us last summer to watch for heatstroke signs. He was panting at rest in our AC house and it terrified us. The cot has been a complete change. He goes to it on his own now. His breathing while resting is back to normal.

"I want to be clear — my golden still gets hot. He just recovers faster."

I was skeptical of any cooling product claim. Golden Retrievers are essentially fur ovens in summer. The cot doesn't stop him from getting hot during walks. What it does is help him cool down fast when he gets back inside. He used to lie on the floor panting for 30 minutes. Now he goes to the cot and is back to baseline within 10.

"Thick-coated breed owners — this is the only thing that worked."

Our vet kept telling us to shave Luna's coat which is actually the opposite of what huskies need. The cot was our last resort before AC bills started destroying us. She started sleeping on it within a day. We've kept the AC at 76°F instead of 70°F all summer because she's actually comfortable now. Saved more than the cot cost in electricity already.

20cm air gap

THE SCIENCE

six mechanisms.
one elevated solution.

Veterinary research is clear. During extreme heatwaves, canines need surfaces that

facilitate heat dissipation — not retain it. The CoolBurrow cot is engineered around six

physiological principles your dog's body is already responding to.

01

Continuous convective airflow

The 20cm elevation creates a continuous thermal air gap beneath your dog. Cooler ambient air is drawn underneath the cot, establishing a passive convective current that pulls heat away from his underbelly all night long.

The same physics your dog seeks when he sprawls on cold tile.

Title

02

Doubled cooling surface area

Standard beds halve your dog's cooling surface area by pressing his ventral body against an insulating barrier. The open mesh design exposes his entire underbelly to airflow — the zone where his fur is thinnest and superficial blood vessels are densest.

More heat dissipates from his body in the same period of time.

Title

03

Selective brain cooling preserved

Pillow beds wrap insulation around the throat, trapping heat over the carotid rete — the vascular network responsible for cooling blood flowing to the brain. The flat bolster-free design leaves the ventral throat exposed to convective heat loss.

Protects the temperature gradient your dog's brain needs.

Title

04

Ground radiation barrier

Outdoor concrete, tile, and decking absorb solar radiation, reaching temperatures far above ambient air. Elevation 20cm off the ground isolates your dog from this ground-level thermal radiation completely.

Critical for outdoor use during summer months.

Title

05

Pressure point elimination

The high-tension mesh acts as a suspension bridge. It conforms to your dog's anatomy and distributes weight evenly across the entire surface — eliminating the concentrated pressure that causes hygromas, calluses, and ischemic tissue damage.

Particularly valuable for senior and large-breed dogs.

Title

06

Hygiene without the bio-sponge

Traditional foam beds trap saliva, oils, and dander deep in the stuffing where bacteria and fungal spores can persist for months. Hydrophobic synthetic mesh blocks moisture at the surface — wipe clean or hose off in minutes.

Sanitizes completely with UV sunlight in under an hour.

Questions other owners asked
before they bought.

Will my dog actually use this if he loves his current bed?

Most dogs take 1-3 days to acclimate. The first day they investigate. By day three they're choosing it on their own — especially during the warmer parts of the day. If your dog is currently sleeping on cold tile during summer, he's already telling you what he wants. The cot just gives him the surface without the orthopedic damage.

Is this safe for puppies or small breeds?

The size S supports up to 30 lbs and is suitable for puppies once they're past the wobbly stage (around 4-5 months). For very young puppies or blind, severely neurologically impaired, or whelping dogs we recommend a low-profile floor cooling solution instead due to the fall risk from the elevated platform.

Does it work in air-conditioned homes?

Yes — and this is the most common objection from skeptical buyers. Dogs run hotter than humans (102°F vs 98.6°F) and their fur is insulation. A 72°F room still feels warm to a thick-coated or senior dog. Cooling beds work through conductive and convective cooling — physically pulling heat from the body — which is a different mechanism than ambient AC. Watch your dog this summer. If he seeks the tile floor, the AC isn't enough.

What if my dog is destructive and chews things?

The CoolBurrow cot uses an anodized aluminum frame with all mesh edges fully enclosed inside the frame — denying your dog a physical chew-hold. For severe chewers we still recommend supervised use for the first week as some dogs will attempt the frame itself. The cot has a 30-night guarantee that covers buyer remorse including this scenario.

How does it hold up outside in rain and sun?

The mesh is UV-stabilized HDPE rated for full outdoor exposure. The frame is anodized aluminum which doesn't rust. We don't recommend leaving it outside permanently because debris will accumulate, but it can stay outside for months at a time without material degradation.

How is this different from a $30 cot I can find on Amazon?

Three things. The mesh tension — cheap cots sag within weeks, allowing your dog's joints to contact the floor and defeating the orthopedic benefit. The frame quality — most use untreated steel that rusts outdoors or thin aluminum that bends. The mesh weave density — coarser meshes catch on dog claws and tear. CoolBurrow is engineered around the failure points of cheaper cots specifically because we built it after our own went through three of them.

What if it doesn't work for my dog?

Return it within 30 nights for a full refund. No forms. No interrogation. We pay return shipping. We offer this because we already know what's going to happen for the vast majority of dogs in hot weather — but if your dog is the exception we're not going to argue with you about it.
